Around 200 domestic and international exhibitors from 25 countries are participating in the 13th edition of the international tourism fair Place2Go, which takes place from March 20 to 22 at the Zagreb Fair. The fair provides an opportunity for business meetings, as well as participation in professional lectures and discussions.
This year, alongside this only international tourism fair in Croatia, the Camping & Outdoor fair is also being held.
“I am especially pleased this year to see a strong domestic presence –110 Croatian exhibitors who demonstrate just how diverse, entrepreneurial, and ready our tourism sector is to develop more intelligently, with higher quality and long-term vision. We often say that today tourism is no longer measured solely by arrivals and overnight stays. Among other reasons, this is because we want to support and inspire those people – many of whom are present here today – who focus on experience and authenticity while ensuring that value remains within the local community,” said Andreja Vukojević, Vice President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy.
She also invited participants to visit the CAMPING & OUTDOOR fair, noting that this is a segment of tourism experiencing strong global growth, and one in which Croatia has much to offer – from nature to increasingly high-quality infrastructure. She emphasized that developing this segment presents an opportunity to further strengthen tourism beyond the main season.
This year’s Place2Go fair brings together Croatian travel agencies, hoteliers, national parks, transport providers, clusters, and more than 40 tourist boards. Exhibitors from Europe, Asia, and Africa are also present, including those from Egypt, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Gambia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Lithuania, and others.
Damjana Domanovac, organizer and director of the fairs from the Zagreb-based company Place2Go, highlighted the importance of the event for connecting the tourism sector and involving young people through cooperation with schools. In addition to the Croatian Chamber of Economy and the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, the fair is supported by the Croatian National Tourist Board, the City of Zagreb, and the Zagreb Tourist Board.
Minister of Tourism and Sport Tonči Glavina emphasized that a fair of this kind is needed in Zagreb and Croatia, as it helps position them within the congress and exhibition industry and contributes to Zagreb being a year-round destination.
This was also confirmed by Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević and Martina Bienenfeld, Director of the Zagreb Tourist Board, who emphasized the importance of focusing on quality and the development of tourism in new and challenging global circumstances.
